The Times of India is a national English-language daily newspaper in India. It is the third-largest newspaper in India by circulation and the largest selling English-language daily in the world according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations. It is the oldest English-language newspaper in India still in circulation, albeit under different names since its first edition published in 1838.

The Times of India has its largest base of circulation in Maharashtra, followed by Delhi and West Bengal. It is owned and published by Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., which also publishes the "Times of India" newspaper in Hindi and other major Indian languages like Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, and Tamil; it also publishes the "Times of India" Kashmiri language edition.

"The Times of India" ("TOI") is published at nine locations—Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Kolkata, Vadodara, Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad. The newspaper is sold in all major cities across India and overseas. In March 1838 "The Bombay Times and Journal of Commerce" was launched in Bombay (now Mumbai), which was edited by Walter Berry and Douglas Hamilton. It was initially published weekly and operated from the old "Bombay Stock Exchange" building at Mazagon, near Churchgate.

The newspaper published extracts from the English reviews and the annual Bombay Directory, along with public sector information such as government reports, public notices, rules, and regulations. The directory in early editions included an editorial on the state of Indian industry written by Dadabhai Naoroji.
