The Edmonton Sun is a daily newspaper published in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is owned by Postmedia Network.
The Sun was founded on October 17, 1988, by seniors at the University of Alberta. The paper's first editor was Andrew Watson. The Sun was originally published twice a week; it became a daily publication in 1989.
The Sun is distributed throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area. It has a weekday circulation of approximately 97,000 and a Sunday circulation of approximately 134,000. It also publishes free art and entertainment weekly, "Edmonton Examiner".
In December 2018, Postmedia announced that it would merge the newsrooms of the Edmonton Sun and the Edmonton Journal. The move followed an earlier announcement in November 2018 that the company would eliminate 90 jobs across Canada as part of a restructuring plan.
